Training services are available to assist eligible case-managed clients to access a range of different types of training to help them prepare for the labour market. There are three types of training:  Essential skills training, Short-Term Orientation and Certificate training, and Occupational skills training.

Essential Skills Training

Essential skills training includes a variety of topics that are intended to improve basic employment readiness. They can be taught as stand-alone courses or combined with other forms of skills training.  Training may vary from a few days to several weeks or months, depending on the topic and whether or not topics are combined.

Short-Term Orientation and Certificate Training

Short-Term Orientation and Certificate (STOC) training supports clients in meeting minimum entry requirements for a job or an industry.  Short in duration, maximum two days in length, STOC training includes FoodSafe, First Aid, WHMIS, Serving It Right, Basic Computer Training and many more.

Occupational Skills Training

Occupational skills training enables clients to develop skills to meet the mandatory entry requirements for an occupation or industry, allowing them to achieve sustainable employment.  It differs from Essential Skills Training in that it goes beyond the basics.
